The Museu del Suro de Palafrugell is a cultural institution born in 1972 whose mission is to acquire, conserve, interpret and value the vertebrate heritage around the world of cork in Catalonia, as it shapes a landscape, an industry, common ways of life and identity. The Museu del Suro is part of the Network of Museums of the Costa Brava and the Network of Local Museums of Catalonia, in the province of Girona.
The first object of the Museum is the building itself, a modernist factory that contains the various exhibition spaces around a small cork oak. The exhibition consists of an audiovisual, a journey from the forest to work in the factory to obtain corks, records, paper and chipboard, a space to experiment and a space for participation.
