12 nests for storks (Himantopus himantopus) have been set up on a wetland around the campsite Castell Mar. This species is one of the most important migratory birds that breed in Catalonia. The area where the nests have been placed has an adequate water depth for the storks, who live in aquatic areas where reeds are present (wetlands, lagoons, ponds). To make them, plastic tubes were used to prevent predators from accessing the nests from the water. The initiative was so successful that 24 hours after installing the new nests there was already a female stork hatching eggs in one of them.
